‘This is my dear son; with this, I am pleased; listen to him.’

Mother Mary Gave Birth To Jesus

(Matthew 17:5) Mary was the wife of Joseph, who worked as a carpenter. They lived in Nazareth. One day the angel Gabriel appeared to him and said- ‘Greetings, merciful, the Lord is with you, blessed are you among women.’ Mary was astonished to hear this, but the angel consoled her, saying that she had been chosen to be the mother of God. Then Mary replied, ‘Look, I am the servant of the Lord; may your word be fulfilled in me.’ And from that moment, she became the mother of God.

Where Was Jesus Born?

After some time, Mary and Joseph went to Bethlehem to write their names, and when they could not find a place anywhere, they came to a secluded cave, which was outside the city, and it was the place where Jesus was born. Mary wrapped him in a baby robe and laid him in the manger. At the same time, he heard the melodious song of angels praising God – ‘Glory to God in the high heavens, and peace to his benevolent earth.’

Joseph Started A Carpenter’s Business

Saint John (1:34) writes, ‘I have seen and testify that this is the Son of God.’ After a brief stay in Egypt, he returned to Nazareth, where Joseph again took up the carpentry business. When Jesus was about 30 years old, he left home. He started preaching his gospel, did wonders, and founded his own church.

Was Judas An Enemy Of Jesus?

Saint Matthew wrote, (4:23) ‘Jesus went through all of Galilee, preaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and infirmity among the people. His fame spread throughout Syria.’ People who do some good deed for others often have many enemies. In the same way, because of the good works done by the Lord Jesus Christ, he also had many enemies. His disciple, whose name was Judas, was so met by his enemies that he agreed to betray only thirty silver coins.

Judas’ Plan To Capture Jesus

Now it so happened that after the feast of the Passover, Jesus went to the Mount of Olives to pray. While they were praying, Judas came there with a huge crowd, to whom he had indicated, ‘He whom I kiss is Jesus, take him and bind him.’ And going to Jesus, he kissed him. Jesus said, ‘Judas! Do you betray me by kissing?’ Then the soldiers rushed towards him, caught them, and took them to the chief priest and Pilate. There, all night and all day, Jesus lived according to the will of the ruthless soldiers. They made fun of him, spit on him, slapped him, made a crown of thorns, and placed it on his head.

Pilate’s Order To Crucify Jesus

In the end, Pilate announced the cross’s death to appease the Jews who wanted to crucify Jesus. Carrying a heavy cross on his wounded shoulders, Jesus began his journey to Calvary Hill. He was so weak that he fell under the cross three times.

Upon his Calvary arrival, Jesus’s clothes were brutally pulled off and nailed to the cross. His mother, Saint John, and some religious women were there. Some of his followers were standing far away, watching everyone. He had to take care of his own safety.

Resurrection Of Jesus

The Jews standing nearby made fun of him by insulting him. But Jesus prayed for them and said, ‘Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.’ And after three hours of severe pain, Jesus died. He did this to liberate mankind. After the death of Jesus, some of his disciples came and buried him in a tomb. On the third day, there was a great earthquake. Jesus came out of the tomb with glory and victory.

When the religious women came, they saw two angels who said to them, ‘Are you looking for Jesus? He is not here. He has risen from the dead. In the evening of the same day, the disciples had gathered with the doors closed for fear of the Jews. There Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, ‘Peace be with you.’ They got scared and started thinking in fear that we saw some ghost. Jesus said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. It is me. Look at my hands and feet.’ And with them, he became infatuated.

Jesus Finally Goes To Heaven

Then they took the apostles to the Mount of Olives and, raising their hands, blessed them. They flew to heaven until a cloud covered them. Then two angels appeared and said to them, ‘This Jesus, whom you see going from your midst to heaven, will come again, just as you have seen going to that heaven. Then he will judge all human beings.’

Have you ever wondered why Jesus Christ was crucified? Some scholars say that he died because he claimed to be a god. But in reality, he died because of our sins.
