The CSK-RCB rivalry, popularly known as the Ashes of South, is in second place. This may almost be considered a South Indian derby, considering they are two of the largest metropolitan cities. Political disputes between the two states surrounding the Kaveri River have also contributed to the intensity of the rivalry. The first IPL match between these 2 teams took place on April 28, 2008, with CSK winning by 13 runs.

They’ve played each other 21 times in the IPL, led by two of India’s top players in Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni. The fight between fire and ice between RCB captain Virat and the original captain cool, MS Dhoni, adds to the intensity.
